Just some quick reminders
You MUST be an ADCA member with CURRENT PAID membership DUES. No exceptions for this rule. Make sure all registered Dexters are in fact registered before finalizing the sale. Then you will also need to do an official transfer to the new owners. The seller has the sole responsibility of doing the transfer.
If you are selling a Dexter that “is going to be registered”, then please register that animal first in your name and then ultimately transfer the animal to the new owner. You can't cut that corner when selling newly registered Dexters. If you have any questions about this first owner policy, just send me an email or give me a call. I can walk you through it.
Along with the seller doing the registration and transfer applications make sure you get as much genetic testing paperwork as you can. If they do not have any testing files then see if they know where the animal was tested (Texas A&M or UC Davis?)
This will be helpful for you in the future if you want to produce registered stock or if you need to change genetic labs.
I would highly recommend completing a Bill of Sale, indicating the animal by (name, tag number/ADCA #, color, age etc.), with date, price, signatures of both parties.
Sellers are responsible for completing the transfer application and payment to any new buyers on registered Dexters. The buyers can not do the transfers.
Here is the link for the online transfer for the sellers to use once you sell to the new buyers: https://dextercattle.org/transfer-of-ownership-form/
These are just shared examples and are not all inclusive to every sale need. We recommend you seek legal counsel if you are wanting to be certain of your legal protections. Also an accountant can advise you on what documentation would be necessary for tax filing needs.
By requesting that a listing be submitted on your behalf, you consent to have your contact information, provided in your listing, be distributed for marketing and advertising purposes to current and new Dexter cattle buyers. The purpose is to find you a buyer or seller for your listing. We can not be responsible for regional lists that are downloaded and then forwarded to third part locations ( like emailing to additional people.)
